So you wanna be a 3D Artist? | Back to videogames: | ||
We want you to be sucessful in
your journey into the videogames industry. So here are
the steps we suggest you take to ensure you have the
training and experience needed. Some people feel the need
to go to university, which is fine, but there is a fast
track way of getting there, and here it is: You need to be committed and hard working. Self motivated and intelligent enough to ask questions. You need to be artistic and also open to constructive criticism. The courses are broken down into short 2 or 3 day modules so that you can work at your own pace. You can also decide to opt in or drop out depending on your own circumstance.

1 You are a good artist and
passionate about games. You read Edge mag and 3d World
and Digital Creative Arts. 2 Max Foundation: 2 days (optional if you already use Max) 3 Rehearse the skills taught on the intro course. We can help you with free software from Discreet. 4 Videogames: 3 day course, packed full of techniques, do's and dont's. Industry std. practice and platform considerations. 5 Check out our recommended reading below. 6 Rehearse the skills taught and develop your own style. 7 Textures for Videogames course: 2 days 8 Rehearse more and email your model(s) in for crit. 9 Character Animation Course: 2 days with skinning and rigging as well as animation and the graph editor. 10 Practice your new skills until your 100% confident. Look at the Character Studio course or advanced techniques. 11 Develop your own showreel and submit for crit 12 Amend reel and approach your fav. games co. |
